Over the last two years we have received numerous requests from Sri Lankan schools and members of the Education Department asking us if we can run longer-term projects in addition to our summer projects. As VESL is staffed entirely by volunteers it simply hasn’t been possible to take on such projects at this time. We are, however, currently thinking about the shape VESL may take in the future: running projects ranging from 3 to 6 months (or longer) is a real possibility.
Here is where you can help – we would like to gauge the level of interest in longer-term placements to give us a feel for the number of projects we could run and their duration. If you would have considered applying for a longer-term placement please email us at [email protected] stating the time of year you would have liked to have gone and the duration of your ideal placement.
