VESL is a registered charity and not run for profit. Everyone within VESL has experience as overseas volunteers and understands the difficulties associated in trying to find an organisation that you can trust to organise your project well, keep you safe and be transparent with its costs.
VESL feels that it is essential for us to keep to the following key principles:
Keep the amount that volunteers contribute towards their placements to a minimum to ensure VESL is able to select the best volunteers available and be as inclusive as possible.
Support volunteers in their fundraising efforts.
Send volunteers to projects at no cost to host families or the local communities.
Keep all administration costs to a minimum to ensure that as much money as possible goes directly towards VESL's charitable aims.
Make our costs as transparent as possible. (all budgets are reviewed by the board of trustees)
Give volunteers the best possible back up and support during their placement, using experienced in-country staff whenever possible.
Spared no expense in ensuring volunteers remain safe and healthy throughout their placement.
Every volunteer who goes on a VESL placement is asked to contribute the following towards the cost of their project:
Project fees*:
£250 of this fee will be required as a deposit, payable after you have been selected for a project. The remainder will be due 2 weeks before you depart. If you are looking for a project in excess of 3 months there will be an additional £250 for each additional month.
Please read what is included for further information.
(* there will be an additional insurance premium for volunteers over 65 - please get in touch with us if you would like us to cost this for you prior to an Info. & Selection day.)
