Fundraising
Many VESL volunteers don't pay anything towards the cost of their placement, they fundraise the money.
As VESL is a charity and as volunteers are genuinely making a difference overseas it is totally acceptable to fundraising towards the cost of your trip. There are loads of different ways to raise the money and although it may seem an impossible task at first, many volunteers comment how easy it was once they got started. This is the opportunity to do that crazy event that you also thought you should - like run a marathon, jump out an aeroplane or sit in a bath full of beans!
VESL is here to help. During the information and selection days we give you information about fundraising and we also provide you with a copy of our specially created fundraising pack. Before you volunteer the VESL staff and past volunteers are also on hand to answer your questions and give suggestions to help you raise the money.
VESL has also teamed up with Just Giving, and you can create your own fundraising page which is a great way of raising money online.
Many of our volunteers have shown that if you start early enough, it is more than possible to raise your entire contribution and many raise much more!
Fundraising can certainly be a daunting task, but once you get started it is not as bad as it seems at first and it can actually be fun!
