Information & Selection days
The information and selection day is as much about you choosing us as it is about us choosing you. The event will be an excellent opportunity for you to get to know the VESL team, in an informal atmosphere, and find out if we are the right organisation for you; it also gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have. For us, it is an invaluable opportunity to meet you and make sure we can match you to a project that we know you will be able to make a difference in and enjoy.
The project / volunteer matching process is extremely important - in many ways, the success of your placement depends on it - therefore it is essential the VESL team get to know you before making any decisions. We are aware that it does take a bit more of your time and effort to attend selection, but we think it is well worth it in the long run.
Information & selection days take place throughout the year in a variety of locations across the UK. Please check the Dates/Deadlines page of the site for details of the next selection day and corresponding application deadline.
Each selection & Information day will include the following sessions:
- Overview of VESL :
A chance to see, firsthand, what the organisation is all about. - Information about our projects :
A chance to find out more about VESL's projects and host countries. - Background to fundraising :
Essential information about how you can successfully raise funds towards your contribution. - Past volunteer's view :
Find out what past volunteers think about their VESL experience. - Individual interview with members of the team :
This allows us a chance to really get to know you and therefore ensure we are sending you to the country and project that best matches your skills and experience - increasing the chances of you having a successful placement.
You will also have plenty of time to chat informally with staff and past volunteers. It is also a great opportunity to meet other potential volunteers.
We will let all volunteers know if they have been selected for a placement within a week of attending an Information & Selection day.
