When is the deadline?

No time is too early to apply!

The deadline for a selection event is 2 days before it is scheduled.

We have a rolling selection process which is open throughout the year, however, we need to receive your application asap in order to review it and send you an invite to our next selection event so please apply early to avoid disappointment

Attend an event in ASAP to give yourself as much time to fundraise as possible!

4-6 Week Projects

If you’re applying for a short-term 4-6 week project to start in Jun/Jul/Aug then your absolute deadline would be to attend a selection event no later than March/April in order to give us enough time to process visa applications and for you to attend your training event.

3 – 12 Month Projects

If you’re applying for a longer-term 3 – 12 month project then you should still apply as early as possible, however, you should give us a minimum of two / three months lead time to process visas and arrange a training event.

If in doubt – simply apply, note your ideal start date, and we’ll discuss your options with you.

Why must I be interviewed?

A selection event is an excellent opportunity for you to get to know VESL and find out if we are the right organisation for you. It also gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have about volunteering overseas.

For us, it is an invaluable opportunity to meet you and make sure we can match you to a project that we know you will be able to make a difference in and that you will enjoy.

The project / volunteer matching process is extremely important and the success of your placement depends on it.  It is essential the VESL team get to know you before making these important decisions.

We are aware that it takes time and effort to attend a selection event, however, it is well worth it in the long run…
